How the Purple DS app funnel can help you to increase your user base immediately (Part I)
Every app needs a start-to-finish marketing funnel for increasing their user base. In this series, we show you possible steps on how the Purple DS app funnel can play a crucial role in your marketing plan and ultimately help you to increase your user base.
The Purple DS app funnel
Part I covers the first step of the marketing funnel, which is raising awareness for your app with the support of the Purple DS Recommendations Engine.
Part II covers the second and third step of the marketing funnel, which are getting the prospect to installand eventually discover the app.
Part III will cover the fourth and fifth step of the marketing funnel, which are using individual campaigning within the app as key action and retaining your customers in making them return to your app over and over again.
App Marketing Funnel Step 1: Awareness
As you know, if nobody knows about your app, it’s impossible for you to get downloads and eventually paying customers. The goal is to demonstrate the value of your app, provide enlightening content and build a relationship with the prospect. Basically, trying to be as helpful as possible and provide the potential customer all the information needed. Also, since the end of April 2018, you can make your app content searchable by Google. That’s another great new option to raise awareness for your Android apps.
Of course, to make it clear right from the beginning, it’s very important that you continue with your usual marketing activities, including advertising, posting on social media and spreading the word about your app on your mobile website.
Besides that, you can already start to make use of our new tool, the Purple DS Recommendations Engine at the beginning of your app funnel.
In a nutshell, the engine which you can include on your website, helps you to save time and track down high quality articles of interest for your audience. As a result, if a prospect clicks on a particular article, half way through on your website he gets asked to either continue reading the article in your app or he gets a list of possible related articles in the app. This feature of smoothly pulling prospects into your app is the true power of the Purple DS Recommendations Engine.
Recommended User flow
Let’s take a closer look at the recommended user flow.
Case #1: Not installed app flow
In case the prospect hasn’t installed the app yet, he gets asked to download the app first and he will be shown the “Subscribe” button within the app after the download was successful. Also, based on the content of your article the engine will propose other articles that either complement or deepen the knowledge.
Case #2: Installed app but not subscribed
In case the prospect has installed the app already, but didn’t subscribe yet, he will be taken to the app directly and asked by the algorithm to subscribe before continuing reading. That’s again a fantastic option to draw users into your app.
Case #3: Installed app, subscribed but not loaded
In case the prospect has installed the app, has a valid subscription but didn’t download the particular issue, he will be automatically asked to download the issue within the newsstand.
Case #4: Installed app, subscribed and loaded
In case the prospect has installed the app, has a valid subscription and also downloaded the issue already, the desired article will be shown directly in the app via deep link.
Increase engagement with content and social media
Finally, we highly recommend you to increase your engagement and break free of the separation between web and app. By using cross sharing on all your social media channels as well as on your websites you create a coherent and connected user experience, which in return will direct much more potential users to your complete brand.
