Motor Presse Stuttgart is a leading special interest media company in Germany. In addition to print publications, Motor Presse Verlag's portfolio includes numerous digital products, TV activities, events and services. In the DACH region, it publishes over 30 magazine titles and a large number of special editions focusing on the automotive, motorcycle, aerospace, lifestyle, sports and leisure sectors. The best-known titles include the magazines "Auto Motor und Sport", "Women's Health", "Men's Health", "Runner's World" and "Motorrad".

To give readers flexible access to digital content, Motor Presse Stuttgart provides its magazines in six special interest apps: Auto Kiosk, Motorrad Kiosk, Camping Kiosk, Flug Kiosk, Sport Kiosk and Health Kiosk. Here, readers can purchase all issues individually or as a subscription. For an intuitive digital user experience, the media company decided to switch to Purple and thus optimally meet the needs of its readers.

With Purple, Motor Presse efficiently and quickly digitizes more than 30 magazines in six apps

As a leading special interest media house, Motor Presse Stuttgart and Hamburg attaches great importance to providing digital content for a broad readership in the apps in the best possible way. With Purple Experience for the creation of news and magazine apps and websites, we implement these requirements in a straightforward manner.

With Purple, Motor Presse Stuttgart processes existing PDF data automatically and makes digital content available to readers efficiently. The reading mode, customizable font sizes and an offline version of the magazines are integrated into the apps as standard. The publisher thus offers its users a seamless and intuitive reading experience on various end devices.

Purple impressed Artur Michalczyk, Sales Coordinator at Motor Presse Stuttgart, with the quality of the functionalities on offer: "With the new apps, we can offer our readers much more than before. I was also impressed by the look and feel of Purple's apps and the overall result is very nice."

Another key piece of feedback from Motor Presse Stuttgart concerns the modular principle on which the technical implementation with Purple is based. "Thanks to Purple's modular principle, individual changes can be made quickly and easily implemented without paralyzing the entire app. This makes it possible to make quick changes if necessary without disrupting the customer's reading experience," says Artur Michalczyk.

With Purple, Motor Presse Stuttgart not only offers its users an improved reading experience, but also increases the cross-selling effect of the published products.

Functionalities for an improved and intuitive user experience

On the homepage of the six Motor Presse apps, the News from the Magazines feed displays the 15 most recently published articles from all magazines individually. Users can read these up to the paywall. This function informs readers about the latest articles from the various magazines without them having to search for them.

Readers can purchase both the issue and a subscription for all issues via in-app purchase. The feed not only underlines the diversity of Motor Presse's digital offering in terms of content, but also offers strong added value for the publisher by increasing the cross-selling effect of the titles.

"The previous app developer did not implement the in-app purchases satisfactorily. Even after years, there were almost weekly complaints and claims because the subscription renewal did not work even though users had already paid for it. With Purple, on the other hand, this function works perfectly." Artur Michalczyk, Sales Coordinator MPS

Since the relaunch of the apps with Purple, Motor Presse Stuttgart readers can purchase content not only via in-app purchase, but also directly. The Shop-Vorteilsabo button takes users directly to the media company's store, where they can take out subscriptions directly and order special issues quickly and easily.

For Motor Presse Stuttgart, direct purchases are a clear added value, which is reflected in the sales figures for subscriptions. This feature not only creates an additional source of revenue, but also increases the user-friendliness of the apps.

"The store advantage subscription button is popular with our readers and the positive effect on our subscription sales is clearly noticeable. We are delighted that the Purple team has implemented this extra request from us so brilliantly." Artur Michalczyk, Sales Coordinator MPS

Another new feature, topic areas, provides readers with content sorted by topic. In the Auto Kiosk app, for example, users can find content sorted according to the topics of driving reports, news, features and service. In the Health Kiosk, the topics are Covermodel, Nutrition, Health-Lifestyle and Sport-Fitness.

With this functionality, Motor Presse Stuttgart readers have better orientation, can search for specific content and discover new content. Motor Presse Stuttgart thus offers readers in the apps a clear and targeted selection of content that interests them - as well as an improved user experience. The publisher also increases the cross-selling effect of the magazines with this function, as well as with the store advantage subscription button.

"The Purple team implemented our ideas exactly as we wanted. With Purple, we not only have more opportunities than before to further develop and expand our apps, but the functionalities are also technically much better." Artur Michalczyk, Sales Coordinator MPS
