The secret to this combination is motion. Instead of reading a story first and triggering the playback of a video separately, the playback of the sequence is controlled by the movement of a scrollable text. In this way, narrative elements can be controlled by gestures of the app user and repeated as needed.
Realization & Design
Traditionally, scrollytelling is known from web design. However, the implementation always required a colorful bouquet of skills, which easily exploded the costs. Nowadays, this feature is also used more and more by companies and publishers in successful apps.
Great examples of this are the Konrad Adenauer App and EPOS.
App examples from the video:

Konrad Adenauer — Download: ios I Android (only available in German app stores)

EPIC — Download: ios
The tablet version of the EPOS app even received the Digital Media Europe Award “Best In Tablet Publishing”. This app was one of the pioneers that used this great feature.
